Virtual Therapy

Serving Patients In These Troubling Times

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to minimize exposure, ProTouch Physical Therapy is implementing scheduling for patients to continue their therapy without leaving their homes. Without our normal hands-on manual therapy, these sessions will be limited to 30 minutes. New patients may be required to visit our facility for their first session as a full hour evaluation; all consecutive sessions can take place remotely thereafter.

ProTouch Physical Therapy has decided to move forward with Zoom as the virtual platform for these sessions. Patients will need a computer (or smart phone) along with internet to utilize this form of therapy. Zoom is free for patients and will automatically launch from the web browser once the session starts & without the need to create a log in or download additional software.

What is virtual therapy?

You may be wondering what exactly virtual therapy (also known as telehealth or telemedicine) is. Essentially, it is a way for us to make sure that our patients are still receiving the highest possible quality of care they need from a remote location. Virtual therapy services can be accessed via your smartphone or computer, and you will be able to perform your PT treatments from the comfort of your own home during this quarantine. You will also be able to track your progress and see how you are improving throughout your treatments – without coming directly to our clinic.

There are numerous conditions that can still be treated and improved via virtual therapy services, including, but not limited to:

 Arthritis pain

 Back pain

 Headaches/migraines

 Pelvic Pain

 Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

 Diastasis Recti

 Post-surgical rehab

 Sports medicine/athletic training

 Injury rehab

 And much more

In addition to allowing for the practice of social distancing, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, telehealth has other benefits for patients. As stated by the American Physical Therapy Association, just a few of these include:

 Patients typically in clinical or hospital settings could be managed from their homes

 Quicker screening, assessment, and referrals can improve care coordination within collaborative delivery models such as accountable care organizations or patient-centered medical homes

 Virtual therapy can facilitate consultation between providers or in clinical education
